things i bought to organize my chaotic apartment
If you have ADHD, are single, and have a lot of shit, then you’re probably living in a chaotic household like me.
If you have ADHD, are single, and have a lot of shit, then you’re probably living in a chaotic household like me. Whenever I move, the living room is always filled with a bunch of bags and boxes. And because I am by myself, I gotta sort this all out one at a time.
Well, enough is enough, and I had to make the executive decision to finally invest a couple of furniture and organizers to make sure my possessions have a place.
stackable plastic boxes

When I got these plastic boxes, I still had undiagnosed ADHD. But once I learned there's a term called DOOM BOXES, I immediately felt attacked. (Amazing how I don't have an original idea or method 😅) When I don't have a home for a certain item, I just throw it in a box.
These are small, so you’re forced to pack in small quantities, but it's great because they won't become stupidly heavy when you need to move them around. Unfortunately, now I have too many of these boxes, so it just means that I need to sort these all out again and maybe get rid of a few.
coat and shoe rack

When I moved into the basement, I literally would throw my jacket over my boxes or couch and leave it there. And my shoes would be all over the place.
When it got cold enough for me to start wearing my winter jackets, I obviously couldn’t just leave a wet coat on the couch. I finally made this purchase to keep all my outerwear in one place: hung, and stored away.

I also own a bunch of shoes. But they all don’t fit in my shoe rack. I didn't want to buy those big containers like how some sneakerheads would display their sneakers, so I got these instead.
They work just as great and I stack them neatly in the corner of the 2nd bedroom.

On my bathroom door, there was a hook to hold my towel, but it kept falling over. I also wanted a place to hang some of my purses whenever I swap them out, so it finally hit me that these over-the-door racks exist.
organizer shelf for beauty products

I have so many beauty products that there’s not enough room for all the bottles, make-up, and other necessary things that I need to visibly see for my morning routine. Finally got this clear shelf to keep it nice and organized and it looks so much better than before.
necklace carousel

This is my most recent purchase because I like to switch up my necklaces depending on the occasion. But they would get so tangled cus I put them in a tiny little pouch 😅 Now my necklaces got their own lil hook and swing around the carousel. Definitely a fun a little item in the bathroom

I bought all of these things over the past year I have been living in Chicago and I’m sure that I’ll be adding a couple of more things to make my life more organized. Hopefully when I have my own apartment, I can live the aesthetic lifestyle that I’ve always wanted. 💖
